The Gant Daily athlete of the week for May 7 through May 13 is Mo Valley softball pitcher Amy Tomasko.
Tomasko picked up 2 wins in spectacular fashion for the surging Black Knights. She gave up no earned runs, while recording 11 strikeouts in a 16-1 win over Glendale. She followed that up the very next day with an even more impressive outing against major rival West Branch. In the 6-1 victory, Tomasko again allowed no earned runs while posting 15 big K\’s. These two teams face off in an opening round playoff game on Thursday at West Branch in a much-anticipated rematch.
Earning honorable mention honors for the week are two more pitchers:
Clearfield\’s Drew Hipps made his 2007 debut a successful one by only allowing one earned run, with no walks and 8 strikeouts, in an 11-1 win over CPL opponent Hollidaysburg.
And of course, the week can\’t go by without mentioning Curwensville\’s Holly Lansberry\’s 2 shut outs for the Lady Tide – ho hum. Her accomplishments have almost become too commonplace to name her athlete of the week every week. We\’ll consider her again in the post season…
