Another Shutout for Lady Tide in Beating DCC 6-0

CURWENSVILLE—-Same opponent, same result ! The Lady Tide softball squad blanked DuBois Central Catholic (DCC) Monday 6-0 for their ninth shutout in eleven wins on the 2007 season. Curwensville’s last game was last Thursday and it was 4-0 over the same DCC team. The Lady Tide have now outscored their foes by a whopping 94-10 bulge on the year.

Curwensville had seven hits, all singles, by seven different players on Monday in scoring one each in the third and fourth innings while putting up four more on the scoreboard in the fifth. The Tide also received 5 walks from DCC starting pitcher Abbie Heigel to go along with those hits. Curwensville’s Holly Lansberry, now 11-2, gave up just three hits and struck out 11 as once again she went the distance. Heigel chipped in with two hits for DCC and had the only extra base hit on the day, a harmless double.

Coach Allen Leigey summed up the victory saying, “It was just a very solid game all around for us. We got timely hitting, had great pitching and played real well defensively. When you do all that you expect to be successful.”

One scheduling note for the Lady Tide has been announced by coach Leigey in that next Monday (5/14) the Lady Tide will be playing a doubleheader at Ridgway starting at 4 pm. The Tide were to have had a home game against the Lady Elkers but due to scheduling problems the doubleheader was planned so that both teams could get the games in for the year.

Curwensville is home this afternoon as they entertain visiting Elk County Catholic. Game time is set for 4:15 at Riverside Stadium.
