The Gant Daily athlete of the week for the week of April 2 through April 8 is Clearfield wrestling grad Tim Taylor.
Taylor placed second in the Senior Men\’s Greco-Roman National Championships in Las Vegas. The 3-time state placewinner for Clearfield has continued his wrestling career while in the Army.
The inclement local weather has wrecked havoc on the spring sports early schedule; but a few standout performances still took place last week.
For the second week in a row, Curwensville pitchers took center stage in Curwensville diamond wins:
Holly Lansberry had 16 strikeouts and went 3 for 4 at the plate and scored 3 runs in Curwensville\’s easy win on Monday.
On Tuesday, Ben McGary allowed 0 earned runs and picked up 9 k\’s in seven innings in an 8-1 win over Brockway.
Also this past week saw Clearfield track athlete Lauren Bell sweep the jumping events in a tri-meet versus DuBois Central Catholic and Brookviile. She won the high, long, and triple jumps.
