Cville SB: Lansberry One Hits Redbank Valley

CURWENSVILLE—-Sophomore Holly Lansberry was in mid season form Thursday afternoon as she threw a one hitter at visiting Redbank Valley in the Lady Tide’s season opener.

After the Lady Bulldogs catcher Hildebrand hit the first pitch of the game to lead off with a double the lights went out on the visitors. Lansberry settled in to blank Redbank the rest of the way in striking out 11 in Curwensville’s 10-0 victory. Head coach Allen Leigey was very pleased and summed up his pitchers performance in saying “ Lansberry obviously pitched very well for the first time out.”

The Lady Tide’s offense didn’t get rolling at first but Leigey noted “We started out slow but once we came around the second time we started to relax and put some hits together.” Curwensville was led by sophomores Ashley Demchak, Shannon McDonald and Lansberry, as the trio each had two hits.

Lansberry had a third inning two run homer while McDonald banged two doubles. The three soph’s also had 2 RBI’s each to pace the Lady Tide’s attack. The hosts scored three in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the 10 run rule. The10th run to cross the plate came with two outs for Curwensville.

The Lady Tide will host Glendale in a Moshannon Valley League game on Monday at 4:15 pm.
