The Clearfield YMCA Swim Team competed this past weekend at the state swim meet held at Penn State University. In the 9-10 Boys Wyatt Flanagan swam the 50 Free on Saturday and placed 17th.
\”Wyatt has worked very hard for me this year. This is his first year to make it to states and he deserved it. I am very proud of him.\” Coach Sue Swales said.
Jordan Mumma and Kraig Peterson represented the boys 13-14 age group Sunday morning. Mumma placed 15th in his 50 Free and 16th in his 100 Free. Peterson placed 15th in the 200 IM.
\”These two boys are great, Swales commented. \”This was Kraig\’s first time to States and he swam hard. He swam a 2:21.17, his best time. I couldn\’t ask for anything more, and Mumma, well he is exceptional. He thrives on the competition. The faster his opponents are the faster he swims. He had his best time in the 50 Free 25.07 and 54.92 in the 100.\”
Sunday afternoon the 15-18 boys competed. Shay Flanagan Won the 200 Free with a 1:47.41 and placed 2nd in the 500 Free. Brandon Boyer placed 15th in both the 100 Free and 100 Back. Mark \”Hoss\” Krchnak placed 16th in the 100 Breast and the 400 Free Relay of Flanagan, Boyer, Jon and Chris Bodle placed 15th.
\”Shay is extraordinary. He swims hard and is very serious about his swimming. I am so proud of him winning States and placing Second in the 500. Boyer, Hoss, and the Bodles swam great, too. They have had a great season and gave it their all. They are great guys to work with and swim whatever you ask them too. It has been a long tough season for all of the kids. It is wonderful that the kids help support one another. Even if they didn\’t make it to districts or states they still went to watch and support their teammates. What a sense of accomplishment for a coach. I am so proud of all the YMCA Swimmers for a wonderful year,\” said Swales.
