SPCA Pet Calendar Contest Kicks Off

PHILIPSBURG – Beginning Feb. 4 and continuing through March 11, pet owners will have the opportunity to bring their pets in and have their picture taken by a professional photographer. In turn, the pets will be able to help raise money for the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

For $10, owners will receive an an 8-by-10 picture of their pet and a smaller picture attached to a donation can. Owners will then use the donation can to solicit votes.

Those whose pets are one of the 12 pets receiving the most votes will be featured on a month of the 2008 SPCA pet calendar. The next 12 pets will be featured on the honorable mention page. All pets entered in the contest will be included in a collage, which makes up the front and back cover of the calendar

If you and your pet participated in the calendar contest in the past and you have lost your pet since that time, please contact the SPCA. Deceased participants are honored on a memorial page in the calendar.

The calendar contest is one of the most important fundraising events for the SPCA.

Last year was a huge success and organizers hope to do even better this year.

They say: “This is a great way to show off your pet and in the process help those animals less fortunate. The SPCA operates strictly on donations and monies raised through this and other fund-raising events. Please bring your pet and join the fun.”
