In team events, the Bisons took both the open 200 medley relay and the open 200 free. The open 400 free served as exhibition with St. Marys winning that event.

Head coach, Jackie Morrison was pleased with the girls’ performance when she said, “Overall, the girls swam very well. We had a lot of career best, which is always good. The girls swam very well as a group, and had a strong performance.”

On the boys side, Clearfield faced a strong St. Marys team. In fact, Brandon Boyer was the only double winner for the Bisons.

Boyer won both the open 100 free and the open 100 backstroke, while Logan Shirey took the open 100 breaststroke.

However, Clearfield had strong individual performances from six others including Shay Flanagan and Mark Krchnak who took second in a pair of events.

Flanagan finished second in the open 200 and 500 free, while Krchnak notched second in both the open 200 IM and the open 100 breaststroke.

Other second placewinners were Chris Bodle (open 50 free), Shirey (open 100 fly) and Steven Williams (one meter dive).

Turning in third place finishes were Chris Bodle (open 200 free), John Bodle (open 200 IM and open 100 fly), Justin DeCasper (open 50 and 100 free), Brady Muhollem (open 500 free), Kraig Peterson (open 100 backstroke) and Tyler Shaw (one meter dive).

In team events, the boys won both the open 200 medley and the open 400 free, while St. Marys took the open 200 free.

“We knew it would be tough on the boy’s side, “ said Morrison. “We didn’t get many firsts. We relied on our depth in our seconds, thirds and fourths to bring up the team points. They’re [St. Marys] very strong and we swam very well.”

Clearfield is back in action Friday when the Bisons host Bradford. The meet is set for 6 p.m.
