UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State football coach Joe Paterno was released Friday night from Mount Nittany Medical Center, five days after undergoing surgery on his left leg.
Paterno is said to be resting comfortably at homem and his condition is improving each day, according to Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli, Penn State director of athletic medicine. Sebastianelli will continue to evaluate Paterno each day and determine his level of his physical participation as the Nittany Lions begin preparations for the Saturday regular season finale with Michigan State following Saturday\’s 47-0 win over Temple at Beaver Stadium.
Paterno was in communication with the coaching staff for several days this week in preparation for Saturday\’s contest with the Owls.
Sebastianelli examined Paterno Saturday morning and said his spirits were good.
