Jury Selected for Re-Trial

CLEARFIELD – A man who was found guilty of shooting his wife with a shotgun more than 10 years ago will get a new trial.

Jack E. Allen is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and other counts after he shot Teresa Allen in 1995. But now, a jury has been selected for his new trial, which will be held Dec. 18-22.

Allen went to trial for his actions, and a series of appeals has now landed the case back in Clearfield County Courts.

Allen, who acted as his own attorney for his trial, alleges that he did not know all of his rights. Allen also said that because he left the courtroom during his trial in April 1996, the standby attorney should have been directed to take an active role.

Court documents show that Allen is being held in Clearfield County Jail without bail until the time of his trial.
