Fish Stocked in Curwensville Lake by Volunteers

CURWENSVILLE – On a beautiful fall afternoon, over 3,000 walleye found a new home along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in Curwensville Lake on Sunday.

The non-profit Curwensville Anglers Restocking Program group sponsored this fall stocking for the third year in a row. Over 70 volunteers, adults and kids alike, used a bucket brigade system to fill 16 boats that gently released the fish at their leisure all over the river system.

The Clearfield Chamber of Commerce, Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority, Philipsburg Bassmasters, Mutton Hollow Outfitters and numerous businesses and individuals assisted the Curwensville Anglers at the stockings.

Through donations and their annual crappie, carp, catfish, and groundhog hunt tournaments the CARP finance the walleye stockings. Their goal is to teach future anglers the importance of preserving and maintaining our waterways.
