Bisons Defeat Golden Tide on Links

LUMBER CITY — Sophomore Adam Rowles was medalist with a 42 to give the Clearfield Area High School a 190-195 victory over host Curwensville in an Allegheny Mountain League South Division match at the Eagles Ridge Golf Club Monday afternoon.

\”We were losing by four strokes and waiting for the last group to come in, so he won the match for us,\” Bison Coach Willie Vokes said. \”He was playing in the number five spot, and he had a great round, his second best score of the year.\”

Brandon Miller was low for the Golden Tide with a 46.

Clearfield improved to 2-5 in the AML-South and 3-6 overall. The Bisons will host Brookville Thursday at the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club. The Raiders are undefeated in dual matches and tournaments the last two seasons, including another sold effort with a 245 in the 16-team Bradford Invitational Saturday.

Clearfield finished eighth with a 267 on 88s by Matt Duncan and Brandon Boyer and a 91 by Mark Krchnak.

Kevin Smith of Elk County Catholic earned medalist honors with a four-over-par 74 at the Penn Hills Country Club.

In Monday\’s junior varsity match, Clearfield defeated Curwensville 161-208. Low scores were a 52 by Troy Graham of the Bisons and 65s by Heath McCracken and Ryan Carns of the Golden Tide.
