Stile, Little, Henry, Huntington and Lucas take Orsich Memorial

Reynoldsville —A record number of cars filled the pit area Saturday evening at Hummingbird Speedway for the second running of the Mick Orsich Memorial. Sammy Stile of Charleroi, Gary Little of Clearfield, Don Henry of DuBois, Bill Huntington of Big Run, and Mike Lucas of Pleasant Gap all came out on top in their respective divisions. The Brookville Wood Products late models headlined the evening with a 35-lap feature. Stile, who was substituting for Billy Dickson, and making his first ever appearance at the track, started on the pole with Jerry Redden along side.

Stile got the early jump on the field with Cody Schultz keeping close tabs on him. Four cautions kept the field close in the first third of the race with Stile holding the lead. After a lap 9 restart, Stile and Schultz got away from the field with Bob McMillen and Rick Strong hooking up in a good battle for third. Stile maintained his lead at he halfway mark with Schultz, Strong, Luke Hoffner, and Jason Witherite completing the top five. Stile worked his way through heavy lapped traffic and built a sizable lead on the field until a caution flew on lap 27. After another caution on lap 28, Stile got away from the field with Strong, Hoffner, and Witherite battling it out for second. Two late cautions kept Strong glued to the rear of Stile, but Stile was able to get away and take his first ever win at the speedway. Stile, Schultz, Redden, Rodney Phillips, and Dave Blazavich won the heats while Hoffner and Jason Witherite won the consy’s.

The 15-lap IC Light Beer four-cylinders had Kyle Parson and Aaron Henry showing the field to the green flag. After a complete restart and lap 1 caution, Parson took the lead with Henry close behind. Henry started to pull away from the field as Parson fell back to sixth place. Late in the race Bill McMillen made his charge towards the front, and got the nose of his car to the door of Henry’s, but ran out of laps as Henry went on to score his fifth win of the season. Aaron Henry, Parson, and Alan Barnett won the heats.

The Kronik Energy Drink street stocks were next on the racing surface with Little and Rick Hemphill leading the way in the 20-lap main. Scott Kline and Tim Laughard led the field of Miller Brothers Furniture/By The Room Furniture pure stocks trackside for their 15-lap main. Laughard grabbed the early lead with Kline, John Barley and, Huntington keeping things close. Lap 11 saw Brain Rhed, Kline, and Toby Saline get collected together while running in the top five.
