SHIPPENSBURG — Former Clearfield High School standout Dave Richards scored a touchdown late in the first half as Shippensburg defeated Kutztown 42-27 in non-conference football action before 6,013 fans at Seth Grove Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The redshirt junior, starting at right halfback for the third straight game, gave the Raiders a 35-7 lead with a three-yard run late in the first half.
Richards carried 10 times for 56 yards, including a 26-yarder, to boost his season totals to 20 carries for 91 yards. He also has two pass receptions for 12 yards and one kickoff return for 19 yards.
Shippensburg is off to a 2-1 start and will visit West Chester for another non-conference game Saturday at 6 p.m.
