ABC to air Penn State-Ohio State clash at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 23

University Park, Pa. — ABC will televise Penn State\’s Big Ten opener with border rival Ohio State on Saturday, September 23. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. in Ohio Stadium.

The clash with the No. 1 Buckeyes (2-0) is No. 25 Penn State\’s (1-1) fifth announced TV appearance of the season. This Saturday\’s contest with Youngstown State will air on ESPNU at 3:30 p.m. and the Nittany Lions\’ Oct. 14 clash vs. Michigan will be an ABC split national telecast at 8 p.m. in Beaver Stadium.

The Nittany Lions\’ season opener with Akron aired on ESPN2 and last Saturday\’s game at No. 2 Notre Dame was on NBC. The Nittany Lions have appeared on television in 140 of their last 142 games.

All Penn State football games can be heard on the Penn State Sports Network and http://www.GoPSUsports.com online, with selected games available on XM Satellite Radio.

Penn State and Ohio State will be meeting for the 14th consecutive year since the Nittany Lions began Big Ten play in 1993. The home team has won 11 of the 13 meetings as conference foes. Penn State won, 17-10, last year in a raucous Beaver Stadium to take an 11-10 lead in the series. ABC or ESPN has televised all 13 previous clashes as Big Ten rivals.

Ohio State hosts Cincinnati this week before opening conference play against the Nittany Lions.

Future Penn State contests may be selected by the networks under the six and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten.
