USA TODAY/Gallup College Football Fan Poll: Week One Results

MCLEAN, Va., (PRNewswire) — The USA TODAY/Gallup College Football Fan Poll week one results are in and the fans have spoken after the first weekend of the college football season. Fans were evenly split when asked who they think will win Saturday\’s game between No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Texas – – both teams receiving 49.8% in this week\’s USA TODAY/Gallup Fan Poll.

Fans were only slightly more decisive about who\’s No. 1 with Ohio State holding a lead of 169 points in the Top 15 Fan Poll. The poll is based on a nationally representative sample of 400 college football fans recruited by Gallup. Fans had to demonstrate a high degree of interest in and knowledge of the sport and commit to being a serious evaluator of teams as the season unfolds. One in four fans met the screening criteria and agreed to submit weekly rankings of the top 10 teams in the country for this poll.

Future weekly poll results will appear on Monday nights on USATODAY.com and Tuesdays in USA TODAY through the season. The newspaper will publish the top 15 rankings each week. USATODAY.com will publish the full list.
