Mother Nature takes another at Hummingbird Speedway

Reynoldsville –Race teams were starting to fill the pit area when a heavy downpour soaked Hummingbird Speedway Saturday evening forcing the fifth rainout of the season. Racing will continue next Saturday evening with a five-division program sponsored by Jim’s Atlantic. Gates open at 4:30 pm with racing at 7.
 
With the season winding down some special nights are on tap at the speedway. September 2 will be the Labor Day special and Eric McGarvey Memorial night. Also on this card will be a one on one race between Program Director, Dave Resinger and his son Darrin, who is the scoring
coordinator at the track. Money raised for this race will be donated to the Hahne Cancer Center. The following day (Sept. 3) will be the 2nd annual “Battle at the Bird” demolition derby for full size and compact cars. September 9 will be Emergency Personnel Night and Joe Ellis Memorial night. September 16 will be the 2nd annual Mick Orsich Memorial race with the late models the highlight of the program. Special trophies will be awarded to each feature winner this evening. Also, the second “Chinese Auction” will be held this night to raise funds for the Hahne Cancer Center. The following week (September 23) will be season championship night with double points being awarded in all five divisions.
