PHILIPSBURG — Colton Wrye stopped the Curwensville Teener League 13-14 All-Stars on two hits and struck out 13 to pitch Philipsburg-Osceola to a 6-2 VFW Area VI Tournament win Friday evening at the Powerhouse Grounds.
Wrye walked only one batter in the route-going performance.
Anthony Starr doubled home both of Curwensville\’s runs in the second inning, giving the visitors a 2-1 edge, but P-O regained the lead with a pair in the third and then added one in the fourth and two in the fifth in it\’s tourney opener.
Derek Brothers singled for the only other hit off of Wrye.
P-O managed only two hits off of loser Nick Opalisky, Jed Greslick and Wes McGary but was aided by six walks and four Curwensville errors.
Curwensville is idle until they host P-O Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
