Clearfield LL; 11-Year Olds Avoid Elimination

CLEARFIELD — Facing an early exit from the District 5 Tournament, the Clearfield Little League 11-Year-Old All-Stars strung together four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a three-run deficit and then edged Tri-County 12-11 on a bases-loaded walk to Christian Stone in elimination bracket action at McNamee Field Sunday evening.

Winning pitcher Tanner Ogden rammed a single to right to get the hosts rolling. Tyler Woomer and Dalton Cole followed with run-scoring singles. An error on Mason Root\’s single through the left side made it a new game. Matt Josephson singled and Michael Wood was hit by a pitch to load the bases. One out later, Stone drew the walk for the winning RBI.
Clearfield (1-1) had erased 2-0 and 6-4 deficits earlier.
Ogden struck out 12 Tri-County batters and gave up only three earned runs. The losers solved him for nine hits, four by losing hurler Logan Reese. Ogden walked five.
Woomer sparkled with a double and two singles good for five runs batted in. Root also had a big game with three hits, two of them doubles, and four RBIs. Cole added a pair of hits, one a double, while Nolan Barger and Dillan Graham contributed singles.
Clearfield returns to action Tuesday in an elimination bracket quarterfinal at home against Big Valley, which lost 14-0 in four innings to Mifflin County Sunday after upending State College National 6-5 Friday.
