Big turnout for boat races at Curwensville Lake

CURWENSVILLE – They came from near and far to take in a first for Curwensville Lake.

A total of 83 registered racers representing seven states and Canada visited the lake to race outboard hydroplane boats. Races ran from about 3 p.m. each day until about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority officials said about 300 people attended the two days of racing despite wind problems that forced Saturday’s races to be delayed and Sunday’s races to be canceled.
