Pataky Beaten at World Team Trials

Colorado Springs, CO — Former Clearfield state wrestling champion Brad Pataky failed in his attempt to make the FILA Junior World Freestyle wrestling team this past weekend. Pataky was upended by eventual champion Henry Cejudo in the challenge round finals 3-0, 7-0. Cejudo, 19, was second in the Senior World team trials last month. Cejudo was 5th at the junior world championships last year and recently won the Pan Am Games. Former PA state champion Coleman Scott of Waynesburg qualified for the world championships in the 132# division by beating NCAA runner-up Troy Nickerson of NY. The World Championships will take place from August 29 to September 3 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Teammates of Brad\’s from Penn State also competing over the 2 day event were Mark Friend, Phil Bomberger, and Dave Erwin. None managed to earn a spot on the US team for the world championships.
