CURWENSVILLE — The Curwensville Golden Tide scored their first touchdown of the season Friday, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the visiting undefeated Mt. Union Trojans (3-0) ran away with a 49-7 victory Friday night at Andy Evanko Stadium.
Down 36-0 about halfway past the mid-point of the second quarter, Curwensville quarterback Tyler Dunn scored on a two yard run and Everett Addleman tacked on the extra point to put the hosts on the board.
Sophomore running back Nasir Collins for the Trojans was just too much for the Tide as he scored five touchdowns and added two 2-point conversions to put 34 points on the board all by himself. Collins came into the game averaging 180 yards per game.
The Tide have had a tough schedule to start the season as the first three opponents are now a combined 8-2 after three weeks. The sledding gets a little bit easier through the midsection of the schedule as the next five teams on the docket are a combined 3-12.
The Tide will first look to get into the win column at home next week when they host the Southern Huntingdon Rockets, who are also 0-3. The Rockets took one on the chin Friday, losing to an 0-2 Moshannon Valley Black Knight squad 41-14.
