Explore Jefferson: Punxsutawney Man Charged After Gun Threat Near Children, Police Say

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) — A Punxsutawney man has been charged with multiple counts of attempted aggravated assault and other offenses after allegedly threatening a man with a gun while the victim was walking with his two-year-old son and three-year-old daughter, police say.

According to court documents, 57-year-old Warren Dewayne Hubbard, of Punxsutawney, faces charges stemming from the October 31 incident outside his residence on Beyer Avenue.

After a verbal confrontation, Hubbard allegedly retrieved a firearm from his house and approached the victim who was pushing his children in a stroller, according to the criminal complaint filed by Master Patrolman Jeffrey Winfield,

After dropping the gun in the grass, Hubbard allegedly pulled out a pocket knife during the confrontation, the complaint continues.

Police say Hubbard later told officers he “would have shot him” if the children hadn’t been present, the complaint notes.

Hubbard faces two counts of first-degree felony criminal attempt at aggravated assault, two counts of second-degree felony criminal attempt at aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of terroristic threats, and two counts of simple assault.

He is being held in Jefferson County Jail on $10,000.00 monetary bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 21 before Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock.
