Falls Creek Fire Dept. to Host Annual Bear Check Station Fundraiser

FALLS CREEK – The Falls Creek Fire Department will host its ninth annual bear check station fundraiser in November.

Pennsylvania Game Commission agents will be present both Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Historically Saturday is the busiest, or best day to see bears, according to a fundraiser press release.

Sunday will again feature the department’s famous chicken barbecue, beginning at 11 a.m. until sold out. There will be activities Monday, Nov. 25, from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m.

“There’s so much more than just bears,” states the release, noting there’s a “big raffle” and a free door prize drawing. “There are lots of prizes again this year.”

Food is also avaiable for purchase.

The bear check station offers a patch program, which has an image designed by one of the firefighters. Scouts and youth under age 18 may participate and earn a free patch.

All are welcome to visit the Falls Creek Fire Department, located at 4 First St., in Falls Creek (turn back the street beside the post office).
