WWII’s Milliron is Upcoming Historical Society Topic

DUBOIS – George Milliron is one of DuBois’ hometown heroes from World War II.

Dick Castonguay, DuBois Area Historical Society’s genealogist, will bring Milliron’s story to the community again during a presentation on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the society’s E. D. Reitz Museum.

The program is free and open to all. Milliron, a son of William and Ruth Milliron, was a graduate of DuBois High School in 1938.

He was working in Bradford when World War II started. He enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps in 1941, completed training and was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1943.

He was deployed to England in 1944, where his unit, the 467th Bombardment Group of the 8th Air Force, was taking part in the Battle of Northern France. Millliron served as a navigator during those missions.

Castonguay will present Milliron’s story with additional background and information about his service during World War II.
