HARRISBURG – State Rep. Dallas Kephart (R-Cambria/Clearfield) has announced funding awarded to the Woodward Township Sewage and Water Authority.

The authority will receive a $1.75 million low-interest loan to replace the existing chlorine disinfection system with a new ultraviolet system.

The project will also replace the drain station and pump station controls, as well as the main building roof to ensure proper functionality and overall effectiveness of major plant components.

“This loan marks a significant investment in our community,” shared Kephart. “Optimizing our wastewater systems is critical to our infrastructure and I am glad to share this award with residents of the 73rd. This loan will save ratepayers money on this project.”

Funding for these projects originates from state and federal funds and is approved by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) board.

The next round of funding will be open for application from now until Oct. 30, ahead of the Jan. 22 voting meeting of the board. More information on applying for PENNVEST funding and completing the application can be found at pa.gov/en/agencies/pennvest/apply-online.html.

PENNVEST has been operating for over three decades to benefit the health and safety of Pennsylvania citizens, economic development, and improving the environment and water quality.

Funding is available to local governments, facility operators and authorities in Pennsylvania for construction and design, engineering and permitting of wastewater, drinking water, stormwater and non-point source pollution projects.
