Hyde Man Gets Lengthy Prison Sentence in Drug Case

CLEARFIELD – A Hyde man will be serving a lengthy state prison sentence for possessing multiple drugs.

John Raymond Jefferson, 39, pleaded guilty in two cases to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance during colloquy court on Monday, according to a court employee.

Judge Paul E. Cherry gave him a total sentence of 36 months to six years in state prison with four years consecutive probation.

This new term of incarceration will run concurrent with a Jefferson County sentence from Judge John H. Foradora for another drug case.

Online court records show he received a sentence of two to four years in prison in July for that offense.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, in January state parole agents asked for assistance from the Clearfield Regional Police Department to search Jefferson’s residence.

Jefferson had admitted to the agents when he checked in with them, that he had methamphetamine, marijuana and ecstasy. When he spoke with the police officers, he again admitted to having the drugs in a bucket in a bedroom.

A search of the home uncovered a total of one pound of crystal methamphetamine, one pound of marijuana and 304 ecstasy pills, it says in the report.

In an interview with police, Jefferson was cooperative, and confessed he had sold 15 to 16 ounces of methamphetamine in the last three months.

The criminal complaint in the second case details an incident in May of 2023 when Jefferson sold a “ball” or 3.5 grams of methamphetamine for $140 to an undercover officer and confidential informant.
