Workforce Solutions Kicks Off the 8th Annual “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing®” Video Contest

KERSEY – Workforce Solutions for North Central PA is excited to announce the launch of the eighth annual “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing®” Video Contest.

This year’s contest will feature middle school teams from across the North Central Workforce Development Area (counties of Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter) as they partner with local manufacturers to create short video documentaries showcasing the innovation and exciting careers available in the manufacturing industry.

To date, the following schools and companies have confirmed participation in this year’s contest:

Throughout the fall, students will begin learning about their assigned companies and start the process of creating their videos, giving them a unique opportunity to explore the world of manufacturing firsthand.

Each team will work closely with their partnered company to highlight the skills, processes and technologies that make modern manufacturing “cool.”

Voting for the Viewer’s Choice Award will take place from Feb. 5-7, where the community can cast votes online for their favorite videos. Details on how to participate in voting will be announced closer to the date.

The contest will culminate in a Manufacturing Expo and Awards Ceremony on March 20, held at The Red Fern in Kersey, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the ceremony, awards will be presented to the top teams, including the coveted Viewer’s Choice Award.

Colleen Prechtl, project coordinator for Workforce Solutions, highlighted the importance of the contest: “This is an incredible opportunity for students to dive into the world of manufacturing, gaining valuable insights and sparking their interest in high-demand careers. We are thrilled to see so many local companies supporting this effort and sharing their stories.”
