Penn Highlands Healthcare and Excel Companion Care LLC, doing business as Help at Home, have agreed to the acquisition of Helpmates Inc., the health system’s non-skilled in-home services.

Help at Home is a national in-home provider with a focus on unskilled personal care services.

“The acquisition of Helpmates enables our health system to focus and grow the core services of Healthcare at Home, which include home health and hospice,” said Cheryl Mitchell, service line leader of Penn Highlands Healthcare at Home.

“The values of Help at Home are very similar to those of Penn Highlands Healthcare and we are confident that our clients will continue to receive the same high level of service.”

The acquisition will occur on or around Dec. 9, 2024 following governmental approval.

The acquisition only applies to Helpmates, the unskilled in-home services. Penn Highlands Healthcare is retaining and committed to growing the health system’s home health and hospice services.

Helpmates’ employees will be offered the option of employment with Help at Home or positions within Penn Highlands Healthcare.

Help at Home and Penn Highlands Healthcare at Home are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and transfer of patients to other agencies with no disruption in care.
