DUBOIS – The DuBois Area Historical Society recently welcomed a site visit from Mark McCracken of the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation to review the project that installed new technology equipment in the education room.

Funding for the project was provided by a grant awarded by the Charitable Foundation to the Historical Society.

Dick Castonguay of the Historical Society explained how “the funding from the Charitable Foundation grant was used to purchase new audio-visual equipment for the Education/Training room including a 50” Visio smart TV, a Dell laptop computer and an InFocus portable projector along with the necessary software licenses and secure Wi-Fi equipment.

“We use the education room not only for programs offered by the Historical Society, but also make the room available for other community uses.

“The new audio-visual equipment will make a big improvement to the presentations that can be made in the Education/Training Room.”

McCracken added that “the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation is pleased to be able to help the DuBois Area Historical Society with this project.

“Our grant program is competitive, and the Grant Committee is looking to award funding to projects that will benefit not just one organization, but also enhance the overall community.

“The Historical Society project scored very high because the Education/Training room is used for educational purposes and is available for the community to use.

“We also value the work many community volunteers perform to collect and preserve important artifacts of local history for the public to study and appreciate.”

The Clearfield County Charitable Foundation is currently in the process of reviewing grant applications submitted for the 2024 grant program.

The 2024 grant awards will be announced after the Oct. 24 meeting of the Charitable Foundation Board of Directors.
