Scouts Hold Flag Retirement Ceremony

CLEARFIELD – Boy Scout Troop 9 held a Flag Retirement Ceremony at a recent campout.

A flag-burning ceremony, also known as a flag retirement ceremony, is a way to dispose of a worn-out or no longer needed flag with respect and dignity.

Over 200 retired flags were given to the troop by the Clearfield American Legion Post 6. The flags were burnt in a clean barrel and the ashes were then taken and buried in the woods by the scouts.

Scouts and leaders who attended were: Monte Diethrick, Cole Spencer, Sam Rish, Tyler Sinclair, Landen MacDonald, Rowen MacDonald, Dominic Mayersky, Trapper McKendrick, Cooper Stone, Bryce Wills and Wynston Walker with leaders Mike Mayersky, John Mayersky, Ricky Lansberry and Kenner McKendrick.
