HEATH TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Authorities have officially released information regarding an investigation into the theft of a baby goat from Farmers Inn in Sigel.

According to a report released by Marienville-based State Police on Thursday, September 19, troopers received a call from Farmers Inn relating that someone in a black Chevrolet Tahoe took a goat from inside the fence around 5:06 p.m. on September 8.

Police say a witness reported three white males, approximately 25- to 35-years-old, operating an older black Chevy Tahoe with exterior damage towing a trailer with three four-wheelers on it left on Route 949 after stealing the goat.

Trooper Gerg is investigating this incident.

An employee of Farmers Inn told exploreClarion.com on September 8 that a customer witnessed the incident that happened near the petting zoo located along Shaffer Road, in Heath Township, Jefferson County.

The witness reported the vehicle towing a trailer with multiple Suzuki four-wheelers pulled up to the petting zoo. The driver—described as a man with a beard—exited the vehicle, grabbed a goat, placed it in the vehicle, and then drove away from the scene.

It was further reported that several males were inside the vehicle at the time of the theft.

The goat is described as having black and white hair and is approximately four- to six-weeks-old (age given on September 8), the employee explained.

A picture of the goat was unavailable, the employee noted.

It is believed the suspect ate in the business’ dining room before the incident and paid in cash, as there was no record of a credit card being used.

Marienville-based State Police responded to the scene and issued an advisory to neighboring agencies to be on the lookout, the employee added.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact PSP Marienville at 814-927-5253.
