CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield community is rallying to help county sheriff deputy Mike Rowles and his family defray expenses that come along with his medical battle.

Legends Sports Bar & Grill of Clearfield will have a “Wings for Mike” fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 21. Wings are $1 each (dine-in), with all wing proceeds benefiting the Rowles family.

Staff will do everything possible to accommodate take-out wing orders at $1.25 per wing, and suggest walk-in orders for take-outs as they may be unable to answer the phone.

The kitchen will be open from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and donations are also very welcome, according to the Legends Facebook page, which encourages the community to help them support one of their own.

“We love you Mike and Chris.”

It wasn’t long after Legends’ social media post that it got support from another Clearfield business, Country Butcher. For every dozen wings that Legends sells for this fundraiser event, it will donate $2.

Country Butcher also asked a few things of its community: “support our law enforcement officers, support our local small businesses and go buy a dozen wings. Stop in our store … to help us donate more.

“We love our community and we love our law enforcement officers.”

A benefit lunch is also planned for Thursday, Sept. 26 at the county sheriff’s office, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., or until gone. The $5 take-out lunch will include a six-inch sub, chips and dessert.

There will also be a basket raffle/Chinese auction and 50/50, plus a day-long bake sale in the treasurer’s office. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods may deliver their goodies to the office the morning of the sale.

All donations are welcome.

For questions or more information, please contact the sheriff’s office at 814-765-2641, or Nicky at ext: 2151; Ruth Ann at ext: 2150; and Kim at ext: 2152.

The benefit is being sponsored by Saint John XXIII Council 16090 of Curwensville/Grampian.

In addition, monetary donations can be made at any CNB Bank location to the “Mike Rowles Donation Fund.”
