WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a driver was killed after his truck crashed into a tree and caught fire on Route 322 in Winslow Township early Wednesday morning.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the crash happened around 1:58 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, on U.S. Route 322, near Prospect Avenue, in Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

Police say a 2019 Ford F-150XLT was traveling west when it exited the right side of the roadway for unknown reasons.

The pickup traveled on the right shoulder for a short distance before striking a tree. It then overturned on the right shoulder and caught fire.

According to police, the operator became entrapped in the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries.

The driver’s name was not released.

Police were assisted on scene by DuSan EMS, Reynoldsville Volunteer Fire Department, Zimmerman Towing, and the Jefferson County Coroner’s office.
