Clearfield Community Life-long Learning Course Planned for Sept. 24

CLEARFIELD – The Mature Resources Area Agency on Aging has announced the next Clearfield Community Life-long Learning Institute course at Commonwealth University-Clearfield campus.

It’s being conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Early settlers arrived in Pennsylvania to find that the forests were full of timber and wildlife resources. Subsequent overutilization followed by large-scale fires would change the history of our forests forever.

Joseph Rothrock and Gifford Pinchot were instrumental in leading efforts for what has become the current state forest system.

Our conservation-based forests have many types of employees and varying aspects of forest management.

Some of the program areas include timber, service forestry, wildlife fire, recreation, insect and disease, GIS, mapping, wildlife and forest infrastructure.
