DuBois Woman Accused of Selling Meth Pleads Guilty in 2 Cases

CLEARFIELD – A DuBois woman accused of selling methamphetamine from her home, pleaded guilty in two cases Thursday during sentencing court.

Megan Lynn Riley, 38, was sentenced to a total of 30 months to six years in state prison with five years consecutive probation for felony counts of criminal use of communication facility and possession with intent to deliver, along with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in one case and felony possession with intent to deliver and endangering the welfare of children as well as misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in the second case.

According to the affidavit of probable cause in the first case, in November a controlled buy was set up by a confidential informant who was able to purchase methamphetamine from Riley.

In January, another buy was completed by an informant who also was able to buy methamphetamine from Riley at her home.

The affidavit in the second case outlines how on Jan. 16, a search warrant was executed on Riley’s residence. During this time, they realized Riley was the caregiver of a juvenile under the age of two.

The search uncovered a green bag of a crystal substance, a digital scale, smoking devices, two bags of off-white powder, a container of miscellaneous pharmaceuticals, cash and four bags of white powder. Two of those bags were suspected methamphetamine and the others contained a cutting agent.

The bag of methamphetamine was exposed in the living room where it was within the reach of the child. While trying to hide this bag, Riley knocked it onto the floor, “further exposing the child to potential exposure,” the officer noted in the criminal complaint.

In her purse, officers found two more suspected bags of methamphetamine and pills.

When questioned, she admitted to possessing and distributing methamphetamine.
