Clearfield National Night Out is Aug. 6

CLEARFIELD – Aug. 6 promises to be another fun-filled community policing night in downtown Clearfield.

An annual event—National Night Out—will take place beginning at 5:30 p.m., in the parking lot of the Clearfield Fire Department at 108 E. Cherry St.

It will feature various vendors and exhibits as well as games and food, while helping to strengthen relationships between the community and local police. The event also includes other agencies such as local fire and emergency medical services, police and so forth.

At 8:30 p.m., families may join Clearfield Regional police, Penn Highlands Clearfield EMS and Clearfield Revitalization Corp. for the first-ever “Kid’s Drive-In” at Upper Witmer Park. This will feature an outdoor kid’s movie with hot dogs and popcorn thanks to event sponsors.

Children are encouraged to make their own “vehicles” from household items. Their vehicles can be as simple or as complicated as they want—wherever their imagination takes them, states Sgt. Nathan Curry of the Clearfield Regional police. Vehicles—though requested—are not mandatory and children may bring blankets, lawn chairs or sit in the grass. There will also be playground equipment available for children who enjoy being active.
