CAST to Host Open Auditions for The Miser

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre Inc. (CAST) seeks talented actors, age 18-plus, to fill the various roles in their upcoming comedic play The Miser. 

Auditions will be held July 28 and 29, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those auditioning will read from the script and participate in various exercises. Come prepared with comfortable clothing, a good attitude, and an eagerness to have fun! 

The Miser is an adaptation of Moliere’s classic comedy and squarely modeled on Aesop’s fable. The Miser is set in 17th century France.

Harpagon is a moneylender, making profit from others who owe borrowing fees. Though he has a son and daughter – they are of no matter unless to marry into more wealth. He thrives on money and praise. 

The cast calls for two sets of young lovers, three scheming servants, other moneylenders, a nobleman and two justices. There could be doubling of some characters.

This production is directed by Gayle Gearhart. Performances are September 5-7 and 12-14 at 7:30 p.m.

Those who are auditioning are expected to be at all performances and attend as many rehearsals as possible. At auditions, please come prepared with a list of schedule conflicts so a proper rehearsal schedule can be created.
