Cabaret is set against the emergence of anti-Semitism and fascism in 1930’s Germany with a lot of the action taking place inside of a seedy underground nightclub during a time in history where everyone was having the best time, indulging in every kind of vice you can imagine.
This show is a huge, fun party until all of a sudden it isn’t.
Cabaret opened on Broadway in 1966 and is currently in its fourth revival, which is a testament to its timeless appeal to a wide variety of audiences.
Once described as a “musical for people who don’t like musicals,” the show is a compelling historical drama complete with complicated romance plot lines, sinister villains and bawdy hilarity in addition to the show’s various epic dance numbers and hauntingly beautiful score.
Note that this production is not suitable for children or those that are easily offended. Recommended age for admittance is 18 plus.
CAST is a non-profit arts center located at 112 E. Locust St., in downtown Clearfield.
