Grampian Lions Club Installs New Officers

GRAMPIAN – The Grampian Lions Club recently started its summer picnic/meetings with the installation of new officers.

Club President Steve Dimmick conducted the installation of the 2024-25 club officers. 

New officers include: President, Martin Tate; First Vice President Scott Bennett; Second Vice President T. Kirk Thorp; Third Vice President Dave Turek; Secretary Stephanie Johnson; Treasurer Jim Bennett; Assistant Treasurer Mike Sutika; Lion Tamer and Tail Twister Bill Royer; First-Year Directors Linda Henry and John Bunnell; Second-Year Directors   Steve Dimmick and Gary Verrelli. The club’s new officers will begin their duties in July.               

A new member, Audrey Kilbride, was installed at the meeting, as well. Audrey was sponsored by member Jim Bennett.

Members were informed that the 2024 GLC Harold “Bunk” Wriglesworth Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Sarah Buchwitz and Isabella Stephens.

Sarah and Isabella are 2024 graduates of the Curwensville Area High School. Each girl will receive $500.               

Uncoming club activities include a DuBois Challenger League softball game on July 17.  All interested members are asked to attend the game to assist and/or cheer on the players. This is a very inspiring event and a joy to take part in.

A work night will be held at the Grampian Community Park on July 23, beginning at 6 p.m.

A club Cornhole Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Grampian Community Park. The games wiil include a competitive and a social bracket.

The cost will be  $40 per team.  You can bring your own partner. There will be side games, as well. A food vendor will be on-hand at the park during this event.

Plans are also being made for the 15th annual Andy Sutika Memorial Softball tournament to be held Sept. 21 at the DuBois ball fields.               

Members are reminded that the next club picnic/meeting will be held Tuesday, July 9 at Fred Antes, 10 Antes Ln., Grampian, PA16838.
