Explore Jefferson: Reynoldsville Man Accused of Resisting Arrest After Causing ‘Major Disturbance’ at Brookville Gas Station

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — A Reynoldsville man was charged for allegedly resisting arrest during an incident in which he was visibly intoxicated at the Brookville Sheetz.

According to court documents, the Brookville Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 39-year-old Christopher T. Lockwood, of Reynoldsville, in District Judge Gregory Bazylak’s office on May 13.

According to a criminal complaint, Brookville Borough Police were dispatched for a report of an intoxicated man in the Sheetz store, who had entered a white SUV and was appearing to be preparing to drive away around 4:00 a.m. on March 24.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed the vehicle matching the reported description. As they approached the vehicle, officers were able to see the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was seated wearing camouflage shorts and a dark-colored hoodie. The driver—later identified as Christopher Lockwood—opened his window approximately two inches and refused to open it any further, the complaint states.

During this interaction, Lockwood spoke with a slurred speech and had glassy and bloodshot eyes. Officers also detected an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Lockwood’s breath. Given these indicators and Lockwood’s own admission, officers believed Lockwood to be under the influence of alcohol and asked him to exit the vehicle. However, Lockwood refused to exit the vehicle, the complaint indicates.

Lockwood was asked multiple times to exit the vehicle but refused. Eventually, Officer Austin Steele attempted to open the driver’s side door, but Lockwood had locked it from the inside, the complaint notes.

Lockwood continued to refuse to exit the vehicle and Officer Steele asked him for approximately two hours to contact a sober driver, according to the complaint.

Lockwood finally contacted his mother around 6:05 a.m. to come to the scene and take custody of him, the complaint says.

A witness told police Lockwood was visibly intoxicated in the story and caused a major disturbance with the staff. The witness also said she was afraid to let Lockwood drive his vehicle. She further stated Lockwood deliberately kicked a sign inside the store after being told the restroom was closed for cleaning, according to the complaint.

Lockwood was charged with the following:

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 23, at 9:15 a.m. with Judge Bazylak presiding
