Sandy Twp. to Explore More Cross-hiring of Staff with DuBois City

DUBOIS – Pending approval of DuBois City Council, Sandy Township’s administrative staff will move into the city municipal building sooner than originally planned.

Due to the departure of city administrative staff earlier this month, the township has been helping fill in the gap.

Monday night, Township/City Manager Shawn Arbaugh proposed to the board of supervisors a similar cross-hiring situation as both he and City/Township Engineer Chris Nasuti have entered into.

He said rather than the city hiring new employees only to choose whether or not to retain or let them go in two years, township staff could work for both muniicpalities.

This, however, requires city approval, and if given, the township municipal building would become by appointment only similair to its operation during COVID.

Township residents would also be able to go to the city building.

Board meetings will continue to be held at the township building, but officials will leave the option open of possibly moving them to the city buidling, as well.
