Man Jailed for Threatening Woman with Machete

CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man is behind bars for terrorizing a woman with a machete, Clearfield Regional police say.

According to a department-issued news release, officers were called to Park Street in Clearfield Borough on Saturday, May 18 for a male threatening a female with a machete. He also had her locked inside a bedroom.

On-scene police learned the male had fled with the machete, and allegedly threatened others as he fled. He was located in Hyde, subsequently taken into custody and put in county jail.

The male, identified as 41-year-old Lester E. Middleworth Jr., faces charges of terroristic threats, simple assault (two counts), reckless endangerment, false imprisonment and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.

A preliminary hearing date hasn’t been set at this time.
