PennDOT to Perform Base Repair on Route 53 Next Week

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that Clearfield County Maintenance forces will perform base repair on Route 53 between the intersection of Route 322 in Decatur Township near Philipsburg and the Interstate 80 interchange at Kylertown starting Monday, May 20.

Base repair is intended to repair fatigue cracked, potholed or distorted pavement sections and restore the structural integrity of the pavement, extending the service life of good and fair roads and providing a smooth, safe ride for motorists.

PennDOT anticipates work in this stretch of roadway to continue through Thursday, May 23. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily with flaggers in the roadway providing traffic control.

Traffic delays are expected, so PennDOT urges drivers to build extra time into their schedules or seek alternate routes.

Motorists are encouraged to “Know Before They Go” by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com.
