HYDE — The Clearfield Lady Bison plated 10 runs in an error filled second inning to highlight, or lowlight, a 14-0 victory on Senior Night.
The three runs scored in the bottom of the first inning would have been enough to send off the six seniors with a win.
Eight different Lady Bisons recorded hits during the game, while the Trojans committed nine errors, and sophomore Megan Wisor threw a 2-hitter with nine strikeouts to earn her second win of the week.
Fittingly for this game, senior Ruby Singleton started things off in the bottom of the first inning by reaching on an error. Senior Hailee Irwin, making her first career start, then singled to right field sending Singleton to third. Madi McBride also reached on an infield error, putting the home squad up 1-0. A third error off of the hard hit ball by Aevril Hayward plated a second run, followed by Eve Siegel lining into a double play. Senior Sam Campolong reached on the fourth error of the inning, which scored McBride with the third and final run of the inning.
The 10-run second inning was more of the same.
Senior Anna Twigg started things off with a walk. After an out, Singleton tripled under the glove of the centerfielder, sending Twigg home. Haley Billotte then flew out to right field for the second out, scoring Singleton for the second time. Then the Bison went on a 5-run, 2-out rally to lock up the game.
McBride singled, Hayward walked, and Siegel drove a line drive up the middle for the sixth run. Campolong then walked to load the bases for senior Alexus Green. Green then delivered a 2-run single to make it 8-0. Twigg reached on an error, which scored Campolong, and senior Paige Houser up the inning’s scoring with an infield single to score Green, making it 10-0. Singleton walked and Billotte doubled over the leftfielder’s head, clearfield the bases, to make it 13-0.
The Lady Bison then scored a single run in the third when Hayward scored on an error off of the bat of Twigg.
Weather permitting, the Lady Bison (5-8) will play three games next week, starting with a home make up game on Monday against Somerset.
