Clearfield S.D. to Consider Granting Gas Service Line Easement for CCCTC Property

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield school board on Monday night was asked to consider authorizing the granting of a gas service line easement to UGI Utilities Inc., for the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center property.

The authorization would be with the understanding that the Joint Operating Committee (JOC) of the CCCTC will have authority to negotiate and approve the specific terms of the easement, Superintendent Terry Struble said.

This would include but not be limited to the terms relating to the location and description of the service line, the land use restrictions relating to the easement area, the abandonment of the existing UGI easement and any other rights or obligations of the parties.

Struble said UGI would be completing a conversion to gas units on the school’s roof and it will require a four-inch line to supply the building.

There’s a larger line immediately behind the school, he said, but there would need to be a new easement in order to bring it into the building.

Then, the existing easement for the smaller line would cease as it would be replaced by the main line. UGI is covering all costs associated with the service line installation, Struble said.

CCCTC is seeking authorization from all five of its sending districts, which include Clearfield, Curwensville, West Branch, Philipsburg-Osceola and Moshannon Valley.

The board will vote on the matter during next Monday’s regular meeting.
