Curwensville Man Accused of Distributing Large Quantities of Illicit Drugs

CURWENSVILLE – A Curwensville man is accused of distributing large quantities of multiple illicit drugs.

Jason Z. Lentz, 30, is charged by Punxsutawney State Police with three felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; five misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance; one misdemeanor count of use/possession of drug paraphernalia; and three misdemeanor counts of child endangerment.

According to the criminal complaint, the charges stem from a nearly nine-month investigation by the State Police Troop C Vice Unit into the distribution of drugs—namely methamphetamine—in and around Clearfield County.

On Jan. 10, investigators obtained a search warrant for Lentz’s residence, located in the 300-block of Pine Street in Curwensville Borough, as well as his 2008 Ford Fusion.

Surveillance was conducted that morning and three children, under the age 18, were observed leaving the residence. At 12 p.m., the search warrant was executed with Lentz being taken into custody on an active bench warrant.

During a search of Lentz’s bedroom, investigators allegedly located approximately 2-3 ounces of methamphetamine—including packages already weighed and sealed for distribution.

There were approximately 1,100 suspected ecstasy pills; 1.2 pounds of marijuana; a bag of psychedelic mushrooms; multiple bags and containers with unknown pills; large quantities of packaging materials; and related drug paraphernalia.

“Due to training, knowledge and experience, the seized items indicate the defendant was distributing controlled substances,” investigators stated, noting the items could have been accessed by anyone including the children residing there.

In a bedroom belonging to one of the children, there were allegedly glass smoking devices with burnt residue laying on the dresser. Inside the dresser, there were multiple other glass smoking devices with residue.

In the trunk of the Ford Fusion, investigators located two “book bags” containing large quantities of methamphetamine—one of which was locked and, according to the complaint, had approximately 39 pounds of the drug.

Investigators lifted the carpeting in the trunk, discovering a brown paper bag with “thank you” written on it. Inside was an envelope containing suspected methamphetamine.

In a compartment on the dash, there was a sealed bag with suspected methamphetamine and in the glove box, there was a bag of suspected marijuana, along with paper documents belonging to Lentz.

Currently Lentz’s case is listed as “inactive” in online court documents. A preliminary hearing date has not been scheduled at this time.
