CLEARFIELD – Charges have been filed against a local male after Clearfield Regional police say multiple guns were seized from his apartment.
Brandon E. Hutson Sr., 34, was charged with felony aggravated assault and possession of firearm prohibited, misdemeanor reckless endangerment (three counts) and related offenses.
According to a department-issued news release, around 12:21 a.m. Feb. 4, officers were dispatched to Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for a gunshot wound patient.
The male patient, identified as Hutson, was reportedly being uncooperative and aggressive with medical staff, and also became extremely aggressive with police upon their arrival.
He would only provide limited details about what happened, and claimed he was shot near East Fourth Street. But, police say it was discovered that Hutson had shot himself in the leg.
The incident happened in Hutson’s second-floor apartment on Market Street where the bullet reportedly entered his floor, then the ceiling of the downstairs apartment.
Hutson is currently housed at Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. He’s scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Feb. 7 during centralized court.
