Brookville Chamber’s Eggs & Issues to Feature The Center for Rural PA

BROOKVILLE – Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce hosts a series of informative presentations on a variety of interesting and important topics throughout the community.

With each presentation, it provides guests with a delicious breakfast, enlightening discussions and great networking opportunities.

The next event will feature The Center for Rural Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024 at 7:30 a.m., at the  Brookville Firemen’s Club Banquet Hall, 202 E. Main St., Brookville.

The presentation will focus on the challenges rural Pennsylvanians face, such as population decline, limited broadband internet access, worker shortages, inadequate public transportation, insufficient child care and housing problems.

A county or school district is considered rural if the number of people per square mile is less than 291. Jefferson County has a population density of just 69 people per square mile. Local officials can use this data to help combat rural PA’s problems.

The Center for Rural PA uses complex data like this to offer research, grants and solutions at the local, state, and national levels.

The Center for Rural PA is a legislative agency that serves as a resource for rural policy with the Pennsylvania General Assembly, promoting and sustaining the vitality of Pennsylvania’s rural and small communities.

It works with legislature, educators, state and federal executive agencies and national, state and local organizations to maximize strategies and resources that can better serve Pennsylvania’s nearly 3.4 million rural residents.

Registration is $15, and includes a breakfast buffet.
