Montoursville Wins 15th Annual Bison Duals

HYDE — Fifteen teams from across the state braved the weather conditions and participated in the 15th Annual Clearfield Bison Duals on Saturday at the Clearfield Area Junior/Senior High School.

The Montoursville Warriors went 5-0 on the day, raising their overall record to 17-2, and unseated two-time defending Bison Duals champion Clearfield 32-31 in the finals to claim the crown. It was Montoursville’s third team title at the Bison Duals, their last one taking place in 2020 to go along with their 2016 title.

The Bison went 4-1 on the day, seeing their undefeated regular season go by the wayside, as they are now 11-1.

In the final, the Bison quickly went down 10-0, but then won four matches in a row, and five out of six to take a 25-13 lead. Four Montoursville wins in a row gave the Warriors a seven point lead, and the win, with one bout remaining. A Bison fall in the last bout set the final at 32-31.

Six Bison went undefeated on the day – Cash Diehl (16-7), Colton Ryan (20-8), Colton Bumbarger (15-7), Ty Aveni (21-10), Brady Collins (24-2), and Carter Chamberlain (15-4). Collins, a junior, and Chamberlain, a senior, each ended the tournament with 97 career wins. If all goes well, both should reach the century mark at next weekend’s Thomas Chevrolet Tournament at Bedford High School.
