INDIANA — Twenty four girls teams were represented at the Mid-Winter Mayhem Tournament at IUP’s Kovalchick Convention Center on Saturday January 13.
The eight-person contingent from the Curwensville Lady Tide team managed an eighth place finish with 54 team points and the five-person contingent from the Clearfield Lady Bison ended up in 16th place with 32 points. The team champions were Norwin High School with 94 points.
Emily Neeper (8-6) placed second at 190 for the Tide while Gabby Bambarger (12-6) at 136 and Tessa Queen (12-10) at 142 each placed fourth.
Savannah Carfley (10-8) actually had the most wins for the Tide when she went 4-2 with four pins, but placed outside the top-4 at 130.
Jordyn Peoples at 106, Skylar Turner at 112, Matilyn McCracken at 130, and Jaidyn Sykes at 235 each went 0-2 on the day.
For the Lady Bison, 155 pounder Makayla Taylor (7-2) was the runner-up at 155, and Taylor Blantz (2-4) was fourth at 190.
Alara Quickel at 136 and Aylee Johnston at 170 each went 1-2 for Clearfield, while 148 pounder Araya Korb went 0-2 at 148.
Next up for both teams is a trip to Jim Thorpe, PA for the Coal Cracker Tournament on January 19 and 20.
